In June of this year we went into the studio with our good friend Mike Poorman of Strangeways Recording to record our most ambitious project to date; The Outsider EP. We chose to take our music in a radically different, folk-based direction. This EP was a special project for us for two main reasons.
First, we were able to show a side of ourselves as musicians and music fans that you wouldn’t assume we posses were you to listen to our first two EPs. We really got the chance to cut down to who were were as songwriters, and let the songs speak for themselves through the stripped down acoustic instrumentation on the EP.
The second reason this EP was a significant step for us was because we were able to move our music in a new direction. We like to think of The Outsider as a door to the next step our band will take. Through putting out this EP we feel a sense of freedom moving forward, knowing that by putting out something so different from our past projects, the options for where we can go next are truly limitless.
We’re really proud of the way The Outsider came out, and have been having a blast letting the record work its way into our live shows.
As of right now we are working on writing new material for an upcoming project we plan to begin recording in the Spring. However, before we go into the studio to record our fourth record as a band, we have one last handful of songs from the Run Around EP that we want to make sure see the light of day, but there will be more info about that in the coming weeks.
That’s us for the past few months. We’ve played a ton of fun shows between then and today, and can’t wait to play even more as we keep going!
See you out there,
Life on Hold
